The IRFU and Vodafone Ireland are set to remain a “Team of Us” after announcing a four-year sponsorship extension through to 2028 last night.
The telecoms company, whose “Team Of Us” slogan has been adopted into the rugby lexicon since its first activation in 2016, has secured a new deal which will broaden their existing principal sponsorship of the Ireland men’s XVs, communications partner role with the governing body and title sponsorship of the Vodafone Women’s Interprovincial Championship.
The new deal commencing next July 1, will also include the company’s branding appearing on the back of the Ireland women’s XVs jerseys.
“We’re delighted to be extending our partnership for a further four years to 2028,” Vodafone Ireland CEO Amanda Nelson said. “We have worked hard to create the most interconnected team and fanbase on the planet and want to continue helping fans feel the connection to Irish Rugby.
“We also have a shared ambition with the IRFU to grow the game on the island of Ireland, so I am very proud to announce the continuation of our partnership as principal sponsor of the immensely successful men’s team alongside the fantastic Vodafone Women’s Interprovincial Championship and now the expansion of our partnership to include the Ireland women’s team.”
IRFU chief executive Kevin Potts said his organisation welcomed the increasing role Vodafone are taking in the women’s game and added: “As a not-for-profit, the revenue from sponsorship deals such as these are crucial to the delivery of our plans to ensure Irish rugby teams remain competitive on the global stage.”
